Social Enterprises
Since their displacement in 2008, IDP communities have benefited from national and international aid projects that amount to charity or one-off events that make little lasting impact on the community or their problems. But IDPs are trying to prove every single day that they are not just refugees, they are clever and professional people too, who want to get a good education and find jobs. The mission of For Better Future is to replace this apathy with self-sufficiency through social enterprise.
Our approach to social enterprise is one that assesses community needs and leverages community assets to find collaborative, sustainable solutions. This method of sustainable community development is evident in all of our projects and we have launched two businesses based in Tserovani IDP settlement. Both businesses provide employment and training opportunities to women and youth from the community:
